Kathryn’s Journey - from overstimulation to calm
Kathryn came to Tracks&Dales at a time when a lot in her life felt uncertain. A recent diagnosis of being neurodiverse, challenges in the workplace, and the breakdown of a long-term relationship — including no longer having her dogs with her — had all taken their toll on her confidence and wellbeing.
She has always enjoyed being outdoors, but had begun to feel unsure about going out on her own and lacked the confidence she once had.
Through spending time walking with Tracks&Dales, Kathryn has found a calm, supportive space where she can talk openly and feel heard without judgement. The combination of gentle movement and conversation outdoors has helped her begin to process what she has been going through, feel more able to open up about her feelings, and think more clearly about what she needs next.
Over time, Kathryn's confidence has started to return. She is feeling more optimistic about the future, more connected, and more able to see a way forward. The walks are helping her rebuild not only her enjoyment of the outdoors, but also her sense of independence within it.
For Kathryn, the aim is to feel confident enough to head out walking and exploring new places again, on her own, and build her climbing skill and confidence. Knowing she has the reassurance, skills, and self-belief to do so.
Each walk is a quiet step towards that independence.
